What could be better than a party with your friends in New York City? In the year 2035? The future is bright. In fact the future is already here! But this future, unfortunately, is filled with kidnappings and killings, described herein with dark humor and satire. Demon humor. Demon satire.

But these demons are from outer space! How did we get here? I mean, we have robots that float about hither and thither to protect us. Robot doctors. Even robots inside us now. Did I mention it's a year far in the future, 2035?

Love is still alive. In fact Zach loves Mallory, and Mallory loves Zach. But Zach - who should be a demon hunter - is in a coma. Mallory's disappeared, presumed dead. Timothy James has been captured (his friends call him Timmy Jimmy). Patty Patty is in serious danger, and gosh darn it all, she's just a kid. All of them are cut down in their prime by beasts without feeling, without souls. It's the end of the world as we (haven't yet) know it. Love, sex, death This book has it all. Plus robots.

Demon Days Love Sex Death and Dark Humor This Book Has It All Plus Robots A Satire (Audible Audio Edition) Carl S Plumer T K Gorgonia Someday Press Books

This story has it all: murders, kidnappings, robots, violence, friendship, love, sex, and the list goes on. This doesn't come as a surprise to me given the fact that I've read Plumer's Zombie Ever After before and it also had a highly-varied plot and characters. Evidently, the author is a genius when it comes to creating a wide variety of realistic personalities for his chatacters and putting them in unreal or futuristic plots, which is not easy at all.
In Demon Days, a group of friends from a futuristic setting goes to a night party in New York, but what's going to happen goes beyond what they can imagine. At first it seems that Zachery and his friends have partying, drinking, and having sex as the objective of the night, but later you'll realize something else is going on.
Again as I felt with Zombie Ever After, this story had me reading non-stop. It actually took me two readings to finish it. Absolutely catchy! I highly recommen this book to Sci-Fi, futuristic lovers. You won't regret!

Demon Days Love Sex Death and Dark Humor This Book Has It All Plus Robots A Satire (Audible Audio Edition) Carl S Plumer T K Gorgonia Someday Press Books Reviews

Reading several other reviews, there seems to be some confusion over what genre this book belongs in. Sometimes a book just doesn't neatly fit into one specific category and that's the case here. Does it have science fiction elements? Yes. Does it have fantasy elements? Yes. Another reviewer compared it to a comic book and I would say that's not a bad comparison. The story doesn't waste much time with exposition, it moves along fairly frenetically, much like a comic book. The action is wild and over the top, much like a comic book. Hopefully I'm not off the mark and insulting by supporting those comparisons, but I feel that's kinda the style the author was going for here. While this is a light, fun hearted read, it is well written. I especially enjoyed the "annotations" in the text of the book! When you click on them they either provide more detail, or sometime simply provide an extra laugh. They keyword to describe the reading experience here is FUN.
"Demon Days" is a novel that has it all love, sex, death, flying demons, gore, teeth, claws, flailing arms and legs, grinding, gnawing, munching, flaming and lots more.
Author Carl Plumer takes us on a trip to the world of the near-future (2035) and into a warped world where up isn't quite up and down certainly isn't down. Indeed, you really can't tell what they are. You can't tell anything without at least a scorecard, though a comprehensive guide to the galaxy might be better.

In 2035, the world has been taken over by robots, violence, demons from outer space and other interesting things that don't necessarily go bump in the night. Despite the many changes, though, at least love is still love (whew!). And, right in the middle of this rather interesting world we find Zachary Zemeritus, a poor schlep, who never knew that a rather perverse universe had painted a large target all over him.

Zach never knew what was going on, at least at first. By the time he started to figure it out he was just a puddle of goo on a roof talking with a mechanical wasp who was also a police inspector and who could really rev up any party. That wasn't really very good for Zach, though.

No one could figure out what was happening and why it was happening to them. Timmy Jimmy never knew and neither did Dani Pistachio nor did Helena Heroina And all Mallory knew was that it was certainly dark wherever she was. She couldn't figure anything else out, either. And, she never did figure out where Zach, the love or her life, disappeared to. About the only thing anyone knew with any certainty was the New York wasn't a very nice place. It wasn't the kind of place where you would willingly take a walk unless you were packing a very large cannon and unless you had either a lot of backup or a bunch of good friends who were willing to stretch -- really stretch.

Timmy, Dani, Helena, Mallory and even little Patty-Patty weren't the types you would peg as heroes but they were. Actually, they were more like reluctant heroes but when fate thrust the good old mantle on them, they rose to the challenge, though, if they had their preferences they probably would have been in a very deep cave, somewhere nice and safe.

Carl Plumer's "Demon Days" is a caffeinated romp around the clock. That Plumer has a fine eye for zany, over-the-top characters and settings goes without saying. If you read just the first page you begin to see that Plumer is a masterfully funny, satirical writer who has written a fantastic sendup of demons, phantasms and other things that you might find dredging around any dumpster in the alternate dimension where this story obviously originated.

Actually, that alternate dimension is contained in the very active and creative mind of Carl Plumer whose "Demon Days" speeds from interesting scene to interesting scene -- with some very imaginative occurrences that you will find as oddly compelling (this is a polite way of saying side-splitting) as I did. It is a real hoot; a fast, enjoyable read that even Deflagro (you'll have to read the book) would like!
